# Launchpad

The acquisition of new intellectual property follows two primary pathways: inbound proposals and outbound scouting efforts. Each proposal undergoes a rigorous selection process guided by several key criteria.

* creators must demonstrate a proven history of worldbuilding or intellectual property design, showcasing their ability to conceptualize and develop cohesive, engaging universes
* must exhibit expertise in at least one creative medium—whether that is writing, art direction, film, game or experience design, creative production, or consumer brand design—highlighting their capacity to translate ideas into tangible outputs
* equally important are the creator’s motivation and work ethic, as these attributes are critical for the long-term demands of development.
* the proposed intellectual properties are evaluated for their commercial potential, adaptability across multiple platforms (transmedia capability), and their originality and distinctiveness compared to existing pop-cultural productions.

Only proposals that meet these standards progress to the next stage.

Successful creators are invited to participate in the Creator-in-Residence program, a three-month initiative designed to lay the groundwork for intellectual property development. During this mid-commitment phase, creators work on foundational aspects of IP design while market-testing early concepts. This stage also functions as an evaluation of the creator’s reliability, consistency, and ability to take on a leadership role in steering the property toward market readiness.

As part of the process, developed IPs are also audience-tested in a sandbox environment to gauge initial traction and collect feedback. This step ensures that properties resonate with their intended audience and provides valuable insights for refinement.

Upon completing the residency, 3RD UNIT starts to formalize the partnership with the creator through legal agreements and negotiations. This final step culminates in listing the intellectual property on the 3RD UNIT marketplace, positioning it for broader market exposure and commercial success.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://3rdunit.gitbook.io/3rd-unit-litepaper-december-2024/5.-product/launchpad.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
