Intellectual Properties

We’re consciously focusing on early-stage intellectual properties (IPs) that are free from legacy legal constraints. This approach ensures that these IPs are well-suited for our launchpad process and designed for fractionalized ownership and the Web3 era.

Our goal is to explore and refine various ownership and governance models over time to identify those that offer the most balanced value for creators and individual backers and ease of access. This will help ensure that these franchise properties have the potential to grow and appreciate in value over time.

SOURCES OF IP

  • Creator submissions: we are seeking and nurturing submissions from creators approaching us via our various web interfaces (web, socials)

  • Talent scouting: we are actively scouting the market for distinctive creators and promising IP franchises

  • Internal creative studio: we are running our own internal team to generate and grow franchise ideas so we remain bold and experimental in our own approach

IP EVALUATION CRITERIA

  • Cultural and storytelling potential: we look for IPs with unique cultural or narrative aspects

  • Aesthetic and artistic features: IPs should have distinctive artistic or visual qualities

  • Entertainment value potential: for providing fun, awe, or inspiration

  • Transmedia potential: ability to extend into extended media forms, including film, publishing, and merchandise

CREATORS EVALUATION CRITERIA

  • Skills and x-factor: we assess the creators’ skillsets in their core domain - writing, art direction, gameplay design, directing, and business development.

  • Motivation and resilience: drive, grit, and ability to build and sustain momentum.

  • Collaborative spirit: willingness to share and collaborate with other co-creators.

  • Personal brand and audience: charisma and ability to attract and engage audiences.

Initially, many of our processes will rely on manual and expert-based evaluations. As we progress, we will develop a suite of internal and external tools to enhance and automate the validation of promising new IPs. While our approach may not be perfect and may not address every scenario, it is designed to offer new opportunities in a transparent and equitable manner.

IPs that successfully complete the vetting process will then advance to the 3RD UNIT Launchpad.
